Industrial and export oriented
Manufacturing & Industrial Setup in Mauritius
Mauritius manufactures for export and taxes it favourably. Land, permits and environmental clearance are the real constraints.

The export rate is the incentive
Profits from the export of goods attract a reduced corporate tax rate, which is a genuine and long-standing incentive rather than a marketing line. What determines whether a project proceeds is usually site availability, the building and land use permit and environmental clearance, all of which take time.
- Export rate and incentives assessed properly
- Permit and clearance sequence mapped before you commit
- Honest about site and land constraints

What is involved
Establishing manufacturing in Mauritius
Several approvals, in sequence.
| Element | What it involves |
|---|---|
| Company and activity | Incorporation with the manufacturing activity set out. |
| Export rate | Reduced corporate rate on export of goods. |
| Site and land | Availability, and restrictions on non-citizen land acquisition. |
| Building and land use permit | From the local authority, before construction or fit-out. |
| Environmental clearance | Required for certain categories of activity. |
| Freeport option | For processing and re-export rather than local sale. |
Incentive rates, permit requirements and environmental thresholds change, and non-citizen land acquisition is restricted. All are checked for your project. A Global Business Company must be administered by a management company licensed by the Financial Services Commission, and an Authorised Company must have a licensed registered agent. That is a statutory requirement in Mauritius. We co-ordinate your engagement with a licensed Mauritian management company and manage the process end to end; the regulated filings are made by them.

Questions
Mauritius manufacturing setup — FAQs
Is there a tax incentive for manufacturing?
Yes. Profits from the export of goods attract a reduced corporate tax rate. We confirm the current rate and whether your output qualifies.
Can a foreign-owned company own industrial land?
Land acquisition by non-citizens is restricted and generally requires authorisation. Leasing is often the practical route, and we set out what applies.
What is the biggest cause of delay?
Permits and clearances, particularly the building and land use permit and environmental clearance. Incorporation is not the bottleneck.
Should I consider the Freeport instead?
If you are processing and re-exporting rather than selling locally, yes — it may suit better. We assess both.
When should I sign a lease?
After the permit position is clear. Committing to a site before clearance is a common and expensive mistake.
