Simplifying company formation across Bahrain
Company Formation & Registration in Bahrain
Bahrain is among the most accessible GCC markets: most activities permit full foreign ownership and registration runs through one portal.

Low barrier, with real obligations behind it
Bahrain is genuinely easy to enter — no general corporate income tax, most activities open to full foreign ownership, and registration through Sijilat. The obligations that follow are around employment: work permits, Bahrainisation and social insurance.
- Activity checked against the foreign ownership position
- Registration run through Sijilat
- Bahrainisation planned before you hire
Mainland, free zone and offshore jurisdictions we file in — so the recommendation is based on your activity, not on which authority we happen to be registered with.

The sequence
What a Bahraini setup involves
Most of this runs through the registration portal.
| Stage | What it establishes |
|---|---|
| Name reservation | The commercial name, reserved on the portal. |
| Commercial Registration | The company and its licensed activities. |
| Memorandum of Association | The constitutional document, notarised. |
| Sector approvals | Where the activity is regulated, before the CR is activated. |
| Premises and municipal licence | Address registered and permission to operate from it. |
| Employer registrations | Labour authority and social insurance, before you hire. |
Bahraini procedures, portals and requirements are set by the relevant authorities and change. Your route is confirmed in writing before anything is filed.

Questions
Bahrain company formation — FAQs
Can a foreigner own 100% of a Bahraini company?
Most activities permit full foreign ownership. A limited set of activities carries restrictions or requires local participation, which we check for your specific activity.
Is there corporate income tax in Bahrain?
There is no general corporate income tax on most businesses, though specific regimes apply to certain sectors and to large multinational groups. VAT does apply. We confirm your position rather than relying on the headline.
How long does it take?
Bahrain is among the quicker GCC registrations where the activity is open and no sector approval is needed. Approvals and corporate shareholder documents extend it.
Do I need an office?
You need a registered address, and the municipal licence attaches to premises. Some activities can be registered without full commercial premises, which we confirm.
What is Bahrainisation?
A localisation requirement for employers, administered alongside work permits. It affects hiring from your first employees.
