Some professions are reserved
Consultancy & Professional Services Setup in Kuwait
Kuwait reserves certain professions, and others require the individual practitioner to be registered locally.

Check the profession before the company
Management and technical consultancy is generally open, subject to the ownership route. But some professions — legal practice and certain accounting and audit work among them — are reserved or restricted, and others such as engineering require the practitioners themselves to be registered with a professional body. A company licence does not substitute for individual registration, and the restriction is not something structuring can solve.

- Practitioner registration requirements identified first
- Ownership route assessed alongside
Mainland, free zone and offshore jurisdictions we file in — so the recommendation is based on your activity, not on which authority we happen to be registered with.

What governs a professional practice here
Firm and practitioner are licensed separately.
| Question | Position |
|---|---|
| Is the profession reserved? | Some are, including certain legal and audit work. |
| Is the practitioner registered? | Required for engineering and some others. |
| Can it be foreign owned? | Depends on the activity and the licence route. |
| Is the activity on the excluded list? | Some services are, which ends the question. |
| Is investment advice involved? | Capital markets authorisation applies. |
| Government clients? | Tender rules and local arrangements apply. |
Reserved professions, practitioner registration requirements and the excluded activity list are set by the authorities and change. Yours are checked before any application.

Questions
Kuwait consultancy setup — FAQs
Can a foreigner own a consultancy in Kuwait?
It depends on the activity and whether the direct investment licence route is available for it. Some services sit on the excluded list entirely.
Which professions are reserved?
Certain legal and audit work among others. We check your specific profession before you invest in a plan.
Do my engineers need to be registered?
Engineering practice generally requires individual registration with the professional body, with qualifications and experience assessed. The company licence does not cover it.
How long does credential attestation take?
It runs through authorities in the country of issue and the Kuwaiti chain, so start before the application rather than during it.
What if the profession is reserved?
We will say so plainly. It is not a problem structuring can solve, and the honest answer saves you considerable expense.
