Bookkeeping, Accounting & Audit in Mauritius

For a Global Business Company the accounts do more than report. They evidence that the company is genuinely run from Mauritius.

GCC business setup specialists

The accounts are part of the substance case

A Global Business Company files audited financial statements with the FSC and must demonstrate that its core activities are carried out in Mauritius. Records showing where expenditure, employment and decisions actually occurred are part of that evidence.

  • Records kept to support the substance position
  • Audit co-ordinated where required
  • Filings to both Registrar and FSC handled

Reporting standards, audit and filing requirements differ by regime and change. A Global Business Company must be administered by a management company licensed by the Financial Services Commission, and an Authorised Company must have a licensed registered agent. That is a statutory requirement in Mauritius, not a commercial preference. We co-ordinate your engagement with a licensed Mauritian management company and manage the process end to end; the regulated filings are made by them.

How it works

Getting the books in order

Substance evidence is built as you go, not reconstructed.

01

Position and obligations

What exists, your regime, financial year end and which filings apply to you.

02

Maintain records

Bookkeeping kept with the supporting documents an auditor and the regulator will expect, including evidence of local expenditure and decisions.

03

Statements, audit, filings

Financial statements prepared, audit co-ordinated where required, and filings made to the Registrar, FSC and MRA.

To get started

Questions

Mauritius accounting — FAQs

Does my company need an audit?

A Global Business Company does. Other structures depend on size and type, and we confirm your position rather than assuming.

Who files with the FSC?

Audited financial statements are filed with the FSC for a Global Business Company. The licensed management company makes the regulated filings.

Why do records matter for substance?

Because the substance test looks at where activities actually occur. Records showing local expenditure, employment and decision-making are part of the evidence.

Can you take over messy records?

Yes. We establish an opening position and bring the backlog current. Clean-up is scoped separately.

What standards apply?

Mauritius companies report under applicable international standards, with the detail depending on the entity. We confirm rather than defaulting to the heaviest framework.
