Banking is part of substance
Business Banking Readiness in Mauritius
For a Global Business Company the Mauritius bank account is not just practical. It is part of the substance case.

The account is evidence, not just a facility
A Global Business Company is expected to have its principal bank account in Mauritius as part of demonstrating management and control here. That makes banking a compliance question as well as an operational one.
- Banking addressed as part of the substance plan
- File prepared the way banks actually assess it
- Honest assessment, including when it will be hard
Mainland, free zone and offshore jurisdictions we file in — so the recommendation is based on your activity, not on which authority we happen to be registered with.

What banks look at
The questions behind every application
Source of funds is examined closely here.
| Question | What a strong answer looks like |
|---|---|
| Who ultimately owns this? | A clear chain to named individuals with certified documents. |
| Where do the funds come from? | Documented source of wealth and source of funds. |
| What does the business do? | A coherent activity with contracts or agreements to evidence it. |
| Which jurisdictions are involved? | Counterparties and flows the bank is comfortable with. |
| Is there Mauritius substance? | Resident directors and local management, for a GBC. |
| Expected activity | Realistic volumes consistent with the structure. |
Account opening decisions rest entirely with the bank. We prepare and introduce; we do not guarantee approval or timing. A Global Business Company must be administered by a management company licensed by the Financial Services Commission, and an Authorised Company must have a licensed registered agent. That is a statutory requirement in Mauritius, not a commercial preference. We co-ordinate your engagement with a licensed Mauritian management company and manage the process end to end; the regulated filings are made by them.

Questions
Mauritius corporate banking — FAQs
Why does the bank account matter for substance?
A Global Business Company is expected to hold its principal bank account in Mauritius as part of demonstrating that it is managed and controlled here.
Can you guarantee an account?
No, and nobody can. We assess your profile honestly and tell you where it will be difficult before you commit.
What usually causes refusals?
Insufficient source of funds evidence, ownership chains that cannot be followed, or counterparty jurisdictions the bank avoids.
How long does it take?
Due diligence here is thorough, so weeks rather than days, and longer where the ownership structure is complex.
Do I need to travel?
Requirements vary by bank. Many applications can be progressed through the management company, which we confirm before you book travel.
