Simplifying company formation across Oman
Company Formation & Registration in Oman
Oman opened most activities to full foreign ownership and put registration on a single portal. It is now among the more straightforward GCC setups.

Straightforward, if the activity is open
Since the Foreign Capital Investment Law, most activities permit full foreign ownership and registration runs largely through one portal. What still needs care is the activity list, any sector approval, and Omanisation once you hire.
- Activity checked against the foreign investment position
- Registration run through the official portal
- Omanisation planned before you hire
Mainland, free zone and offshore jurisdictions we file in — so the recommendation is based on your activity, not on which authority we happen to be registered with.

The sequence
What an Omani setup involves
Most of this runs through the official portal once the activity is settled.
| Stage | What it establishes |
|---|---|
| Name reservation | The trade name, reserved on the portal. |
| Commercial Registration | The company and its licensed activities. |
| Constitutive contract | The constitutional document for the company. |
| Chamber membership | Membership of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry. |
| Municipal licence | Permission to operate from your premises. |
| Tax and social insurance | Registration with the Tax Authority and, as an employer, with social insurance. |
Omani procedures, portals and requirements are set by the relevant authorities and change. Your route is confirmed in writing before anything is filed.

Questions
Oman company formation — FAQs
Can a foreigner own 100% of an Omani company?
Most activities permit full foreign ownership under the Foreign Capital Investment Law. A reserved list remains, so we check your specific activity rather than generalising.
How long does it take?
Oman is generally quicker than Saudi Arabia for a foreign investor, because there is no separate investment licence step for most activities. Corporate shareholders still need attested documents, which sets the pace.
Do I need a local partner?
For most activities, no. Certain reserved activities still require Omani participation, which we confirm at the eligibility stage.
Is there a minimum capital?
Capital requirements have been reduced for most activities, though some sectors still carry them. We confirm what applies before you transfer anything.
What is Omanisation?
A localisation requirement for employers, with targets varying by sector. It affects hiring from your first employees, so it belongs in the plan at formation.
