Two documents, often confused
Trade Licence & Commercial Registration in Qatar
Qatar separates commercial registration from the trade licence. You generally need both, from different authorities.

Registration and licence are different things
The commercial registration establishes the company with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. The trade licence is issued by the municipality and relates to the premises and the activity carried on there. Sector approvals sit on top. Businesses that treat these as one document get stuck part-way.
- Both documents and all sector approvals mapped
- Premises requirements identified before you lease
- Renewals tracked so nothing lapses
Mainland, free zone and offshore jurisdictions we file in — so the recommendation is based on your activity, not on which authority we happen to be registered with.

Questions
Qatar trade licences — FAQs
What is the difference between commercial registration and a trade licence?
The registration establishes the company with the Ministry; the trade licence permits the activity at the premises and is issued by the municipality. You generally need both.
Do I need premises before licensing?
A registered tenancy is generally required for the trade licence, so premises and licensing are linked.
What is the establishment card for?
It enables immigration transactions such as work visas. Without it you cannot bring staff in.
Is Chamber membership required?
It is required for many transactions including document attestation, so in practice most companies obtain it.
How often do these renew?
Annually for most documents. We track every date so a lapse does not interrupt trading or visa processing.
