Company Name Reservation in Seychelles

Company Name Reservation in Seychelles

You never deal with the Seychelles Registrar directly. Your licensed agent submits the name, which changes the dynamics.

Your agent is the channel, and the filter

Because the registered agent files on your behalf, two things follow. First, turnaround depends partly on the agent’s own queue and its compliance checks, not only on the Registrar. Second, the agent will decline a name that implies a licensed activity your company is not authorised for, because that exposes its own licence. Knowing both in advance avoids a frustrating week.

  • Names pre-screened against what your company is licensed to do
  • Alternatives submitted together to compress turnaround
  • Agent and registry constraints explained before you choose

What gets declined

Why a Seychelles name is refused

Some refusals come from the agent, not the Registrar.

ReasonWho declines it
Conflict on the registerRegistrar
Implies banking or insuranceAgent, then Registrar
Implies fund or trustee activityAgent, then Registrar
Implies government connectionRegistrar
Undesirable wordingRegistrar
Inconsistent with the stated activityAgent, at due diligence stage

Name rules are applied by the Registrar with discretion and change, and reservations are time-limited. A licensed registered agent makes the regulated filings for an International Business Company, and its own licence depends on doing that properly.

How it works

Getting the name through

Pre-screened, then submitted together.

01

Pre-screen

Your options checked against the register and against what an unlicensed company may imply, so the agent does not bounce them.

02

Submit as a set

Preferred name and alternatives submitted together through the agent, so a refusal does not restart the clock.

03

Carry it through

The approved name used in the constitution, the incorporation and your beneficial ownership filings.

Questions

Seychelles company names — FAQs

Why would my agent decline a name the Registrar might allow?

Because a name implying a licensed activity your company is not authorised for puts the agent’s own licence at risk. The agent is a regulated gatekeeper, not a postbox.

Can I deal with the Registrar directly?

No. Filings for an International Business Company go through the licensed registered agent.

Does a reserved name protect my brand?

No. That is a trademark question, and a trademark is territorial — usually needed where you sell rather than where you incorporate.

How long does reservation take?

Usually short, but it depends on the agent’s queue and compliance checks as well as the Registrar. Submitting alternatives together is the way to compress it.

Can I change the name later?

Yes, by resolution filed through the agent, with consequences for your bank mandate and contracts.
