Selling online from Singapore
E-commerce Company Setup in Singapore
Singapore has no e-commerce licence. What it does have is a GST regime that reaches digital services.

Light regulation, real tax questions
There is no licence to sell online. The questions that matter are GST — including on digital services and low-value imported goods — and whether you can secure payment processing with the profile you have.
- No invented licence requirements
- GST position on digital and imported goods assessed
- Payment onboarding addressed realistically

Match the model
Which setup fits how you sell
The structure depends on stock, customers and GST.
| How you sell | Typical fit | What to watch |
|---|---|---|
| Own store, stock in Singapore | Company plus warehousing | GST at import and controlled goods |
| Own store, no stock held | Standard private limited company | Payment provider onboarding |
| Marketplace selling | Company meeting platform seller rules | Each platform sets its own requirements |
| Digital products and services | Standard company | GST treatment of digital services |
| Low-value imported goods | Depends on volume and model | Specific GST rules may apply |
| Dropshipping | Standard company | Supplier jurisdictions affect banking |
GST rules for digital services and imported goods change. Platform and payment requirements are set by those companies. Both are checked before the structure is fixed.

Questions
Singapore e-commerce — FAQs
Do I need an e-commerce licence in Singapore?
No. There is no e-commerce licence. Incorporation is sufficient unless your goods or services fall into a regulated category.
Does GST apply to digital services?
Singapore’s GST regime reaches digital services and certain imported goods, with rules that have been extended in recent years. We assess your position rather than assuming.
Will I get a payment provider?
Providers assess independently. A company with a resident director, a clear activity description and a corporate account presents far better than a bare shell.
Can I sell into the region from Singapore?
Yes, and many do. Each destination country may impose its own obligations, which is a question for advisers there.
Is Singapore good for e-commerce?
For logistics, payments infrastructure and regional reach, yes. The GST position deserves attention earlier than most founders give it.
