What actually takes the time
Company Setup Timeline & Process in UAE
A straightforward UAE company is normally licensed within about a week once the paperwork is in order. The phrase doing the work in that sentence is “in order”.

Fast, once the slow parts are done
The licensing itself is quick. What stretches a timeline is almost always upstream — documents being attested abroad, an external approval nobody identified, or a tenancy that is not ready to be filed.
- Realistic dates, not best-case ones
- Slow steps started first, in parallel
- You are told immediately when something slips
Mainland, free zone and offshore jurisdictions we file in — so the recommendation is based on your activity, not on which authority we happen to be registered with.

Stage by stage
Where the time actually goes
Durations depend on your activity, jurisdiction and documents, so these are described rather than promised.
| Stage | What has to happen | What makes it slow |
|---|---|---|
| Activity and jurisdiction | Decide what you are licensing and where | Indecision, or an activity not available where you wanted |
| Documents and attestation | Collect and legalise papers issued abroad | Starting the chain late; a country with a long process |
| Name and initial approval | Reserve the name, get initial approval | Name refusals where no alternatives were prepared |
| External approvals | Sign-off from the relevant regulator | Running these after the licence application instead of alongside |
| Premises | Tenancy registered so it can be filed | Signing a lease before confirming it suits the activity |
| Visas and banking | Establishment card, permits, medicals, account | Bank onboarding, which runs on the bank’s own timetable |
Timelines depend on your activity, jurisdiction, documents and the approving bodies involved. We give you a realistic range at quote stage and tell you promptly when something changes.
How we run it
Three stages, overlapped
Sequential is slow. Almost everything that can run in parallel, does.
Decide and quote
Activity, jurisdiction, structure and visa count settled, with a written quote. The attestation chain is explained here so it can start the same day.
Prepare in parallel
Documents attested abroad while the name, initial approval and any external approval files are prepared here. Premises identified against the activity, not after it.
File, licence, operate
Memorandum notarised, licence issued, then establishment card, visas, bank introduction and corporate tax registration so the company is actually operational.
To keep it fast
What you can do to compress the timeline
Most of the levers are yours, not ours.
- Start attestation the day it is explained
- Give three trade names, not one
- Be specific about activities from the outset
- Decide your visa count early, since quota drives premises
- Do not sign a lease before the activity is confirmed
- Have shareholder documents ready before you need them
- Check passport spellings match across every document
- Appoint the signatory early and get the specimen signature
- Arrange a power of attorney if you cannot attend
- Respond to document queries the same day
- Prepare bank onboarding information in advance
- Tell us about any previous refusal, anywhere

Questions
UAE formation timeline — FAQs
Can you guarantee a date?
No, and anyone who does is guessing on behalf of authorities and banks they do not control. We give you a realistic range, tell you which stages are outside anyone’s control, and flag slippage immediately.
What is the single biggest cause of delay?
Document attestation started late. It happens abroad, on someone else’s timetable, and no amount of effort here compensates for a late start.
Is a free zone faster than mainland?
Often, because premises are usually bundled and the process is more standardised. But a regulated activity in a free zone can still be slower than a simple mainland company.
How long until I can open a bank account?
After the licence and establishment card. Bank onboarding runs on the bank’s own timetable and depends on your activity, structure and documentation, so it is the least predictable stage.
How long before I can sponsor visas?
Once the licence is issued and the immigration file opened. Each person then goes through entry permit, medical, Emirates ID and stamping, which is a process of weeks rather than days.
