Open to own, regulated to practise
Consultancy & Professional Services Setup in Bahrain
Owning a Bahraini consultancy is straightforward. Practising certain professions requires the individual to be registered.

The firm and the practitioner are licensed separately
Full foreign ownership is available for professional activities, so the company side is rarely the obstacle. What catches people is that some professions — engineering most notably — require the practitioners themselves to be registered with a professional body, with qualifications and documented experience assessed. A company licence does not substitute for that.
- Practitioner registration requirements identified first
- Scope tested against regulated financial activity
- Activity activated so you can lawfully invoice
Mainland, free zone and offshore jurisdictions we file in — so the recommendation is based on your activity, not on which authority we happen to be registered with.

What governs a professional practice here
Two separate licences, often confused.
| Question | Position |
|---|---|
| Can a foreigner own it? | Yes, for most professional activities. |
| Is the firm licensed? | Through the commercial registration and activity activation. |
| Is the practitioner licensed? | For some professions, yes, individually. |
| Engineering practice | Registration with the professional body required. |
| Investment advice | Regulated by the central bank. |
| General management consultancy | Not separately regulated. |
Professional registration requirements, qualification criteria and the regulated activity boundary are set by the authorities and change. Yours are checked before application.

Questions
Bahrain consultancy setup — FAQs
Can a foreigner own a consultancy in Bahrain?
For most professional activities, yes, outright. Ownership is rarely the constraint here.
Do I personally need to be registered?
For some professions, including engineering, yes — with qualifications and documented experience assessed by the professional body. The company licence does not cover it.
When does advice become regulated?
When it concerns investments, or where you handle client money. That falls under the central bank and is a different proposition entirely.
How long does attestation of certificates take?
It runs through authorities in the country of issue and then in Bahrain, so it should start before, not during, the application.
Do I need an office?
Premises requirements depend on the activity. We confirm what your specific activity requires rather than assuming.
