Incorporation Documents & Due Diligence in Mauritius
Mauritius document requirements are lighter than the Gulf on legalisation but far heavier on due diligence.

Source of funds is the real requirement
There is usually no attestation chain. What there is instead is certification, professional references and documented source of wealth and funds. Incomplete due diligence is the single most common cause of delay here.
- Document list specific to your structure
- Source of funds requirements explained up front
- Certification standards made clear before you start

What is needed
The Mauritius document set
Certification and evidence, rather than legalisation.
| Item | Who it applies to | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Certified passport copy | Every director, shareholder and controller | Certified by an acceptable party |
| Certified address proof | All of the above | Recent and in the individual’s name |
| Reference letters | Controllers | Bank or professional references |
| Source of wealth and funds | Beneficial owners | Documented, not merely stated |
| Curriculum vitae | Directors and controllers | Relevant background |
| Corporate documents | Corporate shareholders | Certified, with ownership chain |
Due diligence standards are set by anti-money-laundering obligations and applied by the licensed management company. A Global Business Company must be administered by a management company licensed by the Financial Services Commission, and an Authorised Company must have a licensed registered agent. That is a statutory requirement in Mauritius. We co-ordinate your engagement with a licensed Mauritian management company and manage the process end to end; the regulated filings are made by them.

Questions
Mauritius documents and due diligence — FAQs
Do I need attestation or legalisation?
Usually not in the GCC sense. What is required is certification by an acceptable party, plus references and source of funds evidence.
Why is source of funds required?
Because the management company is subject to anti-money-laundering obligations and must understand and document where the money originates.
What counts as source of funds evidence?
It varies with the amount and origin, and can include financial statements, sale agreements, tax returns or bank records. We tell you what will satisfy it.
How long does due diligence take?
It is the main determinant of the timeline, particularly with layered ownership or multiple source-of-funds strands.
What if a document is queried?
Usually the certification is unacceptable, the address proof is stale, or source of funds is asserted rather than evidenced. We tell you precisely what to provide.
