Protect it where you actually trade
Trademark & Brand Registration in Oman
A trademark gives you rights only where it is registered. Deciding where that is matters as much as filing.

Scope before procedure
Most brand owners file reflexively in the country they are incorporated in and nowhere else, which leaves the markets they actually sell into unprotected. Oman is reachable through the international registration system, so a single application can cover a list of countries. The useful first conversation is about your sales map, not about forms.
- Protection scoped to your sales map, not your incorporation
- Classification matched to what you genuinely sell
- Clearance search before any fee is committed
Mainland, free zone and offshore jurisdictions we file in — so the recommendation is based on your activity, not on which authority we happen to be registered with.

Decide the scope
Where to protect a brand managed from Oman
The cheapest mistake to avoid is filing too narrowly.
| Decision | What it turns on |
|---|---|
| Oman only | Your customers are all here. |
| International application | You sell into several member countries. |
| Individual national filings | Target markets outside the international system. |
| How many classes | What you actually sell, now and within the year. |
| Latin, Arabic or both | How the brand appears in your own marketing. |
| Logo, word or both | Which element carries the recognition. |
Classification, examination, publication and opposition are governed by the registry and change, and protection in another country depends on that country’s own rules.
How it works
From sales map to certificate
Scope, search, then file.
Scope and search
Your markets and product range reviewed, classes identified and the register searched for conflicts before anything is committed.
File in the right route
National filing or an international application designating your markets, in the forms of the mark you genuinely use.
Prosecute to registration
Examination answered, publication monitored and the opposition window seen through to certificate.
- The mark exactly as used
- Logo artwork to specification
- Arabic version of the mark if you use one
- Full list of goods and services sold
- Goods or services planned within the year
- Applicant details and commercial registration
- Power of attorney, attested
- Priority documents if claiming an earlier filing
- Evidence of existing use
- Registrations already held elsewhere
- Countries you sell into
- Any objection raised against the mark anywhere

Questions
Oman trademark registration — FAQs
Do I have to file in every country separately?
Not necessarily. An international application can designate several member countries from one filing, which is usually cheaper and simpler to administer than separate national applications.
Does an Omani registration protect me in the Gulf?
No. Protection is country by country, and selling into a neighbouring market without a filing covering it leaves you exposed there.
How do I decide the number of classes?
By listing what you actually sell and what you will sell within the year. Filing too narrowly is the error we correct most often, and it is expensive to fix later.
Should I register the Arabic form?
If you market in Arabic, yes — in practice the Latin and Arabic forms function as different marks.
Is a company name enough?
No. The commercial register and the trademark register do different jobs. Only the trademark gives you rights you can enforce against a competitor.
