Company Renewals & Licence Amendments in UAE

A lapsed licence does not just cost a fine. It blocks visa processing, complicates banking, and gets more expensive the longer it is left.

GCC business setup specialists

The admin that quietly becomes urgent

Renewal is predictable and yet it is the single most common thing companies leave too late, usually because the reminder went to an email nobody checks. Amendments are the other half: the business changed, and the licence did not.

  • Renewal dates tracked, not left to a reminder email
  • Amendments checked for knock-on effects first
  • Direct with every licensing authority

What we handle

Renewals and the amendments that go with them

Most amendments touch more than the licence, which is why the order they are done in matters.

ChangeWhat it involvesWhat it usually affects too
Trade licence renewalRenewal application with a valid tenancy and any approvals still currentEstablishment card, visas, bank mandate
Add or change activitiesAmending the activity list on the licenceLicence type, premises requirement, external approvals
Trade name changeReserving and registering the new nameMemorandum, bank account, stamps, invoices, signage
Shareholder or manager changeTransfer of shares or change of appointed signatory, with notarised amendmentMemorandum, bank mandate, visa sponsorship
Share capital changeIncrease or reduction recorded with the authorityMemorandum, audited accounts where required
Address or premises changeNew tenancy registered and filed against the licenceVisa quota, establishment card, correspondence records

Procedures, documents and timing differ between emirates and free zones. What your authority requires is confirmed before the amendment is submitted.

How it works

Handled before it becomes a problem

The aim is that renewal is a confirmation, not a scramble.

01

Review and dates

We take your licence, establishment card, tenancy and visa dates and build the calendar. Anything already overdue is dealt with first, and you are told what it will take to put right.

02

Prepare ahead

Tenancy renewed and registered, approvals re-confirmed where the activity is regulated, and documents assembled before the window opens rather than during it.

03

Submit and confirm

Renewal or amendment filed, the updated licence issued, and the downstream records — establishment card, bank mandate, visa sponsorship — updated to match.

Questions

Company Renewals & Licence Amendments in UAE — FAQs

What happens if my licence expires?

Penalties start accruing, and they generally increase the longer it is left. Beyond the fine, an expired licence interferes with visa processing, banking and any amendment you might need, so the cost is rarely just the fine.

When should I start the renewal?

Well before the expiry date, because the tenancy and any activity approvals usually have to be valid first. If your tenancy renewal is itself late, the licence renewal cannot proceed, and that is the usual cause of a missed deadline.

Can I change my business activities without a new licence?

Yes, that is a standard amendment. It can change your licence type, your premises requirement or the approvals you need, so the knock-on effects are worth checking before you submit.

How do I add or remove a shareholder?

By share transfer, recorded in an amendment to the memorandum and notarised. It usually also affects the bank mandate and, where the outgoing party sponsored visas, the immigration file.

I have moved office. Does the licence need updating?

Yes. The licence is tied to registered premises, and your visa quota is tied to them too, so an unrecorded move can quietly cause a problem at the next renewal or visa application.

Can you take over renewals for a company you did not set up?

Yes. We review the current licence, establishment card, tenancy and visa dates, tell you what is outstanding and then run the calendar from there.
