Types Of Oman Visas

There are many types of visas available in Oman. But only five types of visas are prevalent in the public.

Tourist Visa

It permits a foreigner to visit Oman for 30 days. But it can be extended for a few more days. This visa is valid to use within 6 months from the issuance. It allows a single trip to the country. The visa fee is 20 Omani riyals but on expiration, you need to pay a fine of 10 riyals per day.

Residence Visa

You must get an investor residence visa if you’re a foreign investor who needs to set up a business in Oman. You should obtain a certificate of doing business from your relevant authority. The residence visa is valid for six months from issuance. After verification, you’re granted 2 years of residence permit that’ll get renewed upon the authority’s approval.

Employment Visa

This visa allows the holder to visit Oman for employment purposes. The foreigner must fulfill two requirements: The person should be above 21 years and less than 60 years. You need an Omani sponsor who can take responsibility if there are any discrepancies in the information given. The visa is valid for three months and is extended for some time. The fee for your permit and extension is just 20 Omani Riyals. But for late renewal, you may be charged 50 Omani Riyals.

Multiple Entry Visa

When you’re a foreign investor who doesn’t want to live in Oman, you can ask your local sponsor to apply. So the sponsor will be liable for that foreign businessman. It is allowed even without a sponsor but only for those whose countries that are previously mentioned in the list. The multiple entry visa can be valid for six months up to a year. This permits the holder to reside in Oman only for three consecutive weeks on every visit.

Transit Visa

Transit visas can be divided into three sections:

Air Transit Visa

This visa is for expatriates given at their airway routes in the form of an application that has to be submitted by their aviation carrier. This allows the holder to enter Oman and reside there for 72 hours. The investor must carry money for covering their expenses and a valid ticket to travel the journey.

Road Transit Visa

You can use this visa for two months as provided by competent authorities coordinating with many embassies of Oman. The holder can visit nearby countries of the sultanate by legal routes for 3 days.

Sailors Transit Visa

Sailors who get inside a country through the sea and plan to leave through the air route must require a Sailor Transit Visa. They can stay for five days in that country and after that, they are charged ten Omani Riyals per day.

Documents Needed To Obtain A Visa

When your application is presented by some other person than your sponsor, then the representative should be an Omani holding the written authorization that’s issued by the Directorate General of Passport and Resistance on behalf of the sponsor’s request.

  • The foreigner’s passport copy is valid for six months.
  • Passport-sized photos (2 in count).
  • Labor permit provided from the Ministry of Manpower and its copy for every application form.
  • Get an approval copy from the concerned authority for professions like religious, educational, medical, and media professions.
  • The certificate of medical fitness is issued to citizens of some countries like India, Philippines, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Syria, Egypt, Ethiopia, and Sudan by the Ministry of Health.
